I have a AVRI 62 Jazz converged to.fretless. I have stock pup's in it now. I am thinking of swapping them out for either Fender Custo Shops or Seymour Duncan Antquity ii. Thoughts. I like to keep all Fender (Loyalty) but I have Custom Shops in another bass and I am wondering if the Duncan's have a different sound?

Thanks

If it were me, i'd stay with the Fender pups. My FSR Precision, a MIM, had pups that just didn't cut it. I went with SPB 3's. They are powerful and sound great, but they just don't have the "Fender " sound. It's hard to put into words.

Every bass is different, each has it's own characteristics and unique attributes.

Enjoy the challenges.

OMG I agree with Linnen.

But as long as it butchered already, it won't matter much what you do to it now. Might as well take a couple of cans of Krylon and add a Leo Quan bridge and a brass nut, diamond plate pickguard and active EQ preamp too. Yeah, that will make it better! Yeah! I'm kidding of course. But it doesn't matter anymore since it is trashed already.

Why is it trashed? Because the frets were professionally removed? I guess Jaco trashed his too!

OH MY GOSH I love this response !! Use the Krylon to paint the Badass bridge on !!!!! It would probably sound as good as a real BA@ !!!For what it prob cost to get the frets removed and etc- I'm sure you could have purchased a fretless neck to install on the bass-- right? Then you could go back and forth and you would still have the original neck.

Remember Jaco removed frets on his bass back when you could buy one for $300. It was no big deal then. It was before everyone started going ape to the inth degree on Fenders. That does mean something.

Yes actually he did. He smashed it into so many pieces it took Kevin Kaufman months to glue it back together from this pile of kindling:

You going to go that route too?

Maybe... Over your narrow minded head! I purchased this bass already fretless. I have 2 more AVRI Jazz Basses which have not been touched. As a matter of fact one is still in the shipping box. Maybe you are one who will tell me Au should play it because that's what it's meant for? All I asked originally was swap :P qping out original pup's to custom shops and rate the comparison to this ans Seymour Duncan's. I am a loyal FENDER user. Sheesh! Take a pill guys :P .

$300. Buckeroos was a lot of cash back when Jaco pulled the teeth out of his bass. It wasn't his idea to de-fret his Jazz either.

Stick with the Fender stock stuff. You bought that bass because of the sound, right?

I wasn't making fun of your typing. You said "take a pill" so I did and I was writing in slurr type. Slurr is way of describing impeded speech due to being under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. I was actually singing "La Grange " by ZZ Top.

Can you tell me who fought in the Cival War?
