Okay let's say you are going to go buy a bass- a Fender Jazz bass -- you go to your favorite music store and there are just tons of basses to buy. You have $2000 to spend. Which Jazz do you buy? Now-- you don't have to spend the whole $2000. What do you buy? Remember- you have to buy a Jazz. :D

My 2012 American Standard Jazz has been nothing short of phenomenal in every way. The standard Custom Shop p'ups are to die for. The very best Fender Bass I 've ever played from any era. Yes, even better than the pre-CBS Fenders = Leo Fender's Fenders. That's what I bought, and I would gladly buy another.

If I were right handed I'd be buying a new Dimension for sure. Never before has Fender made anything this great. From what I've seen and heard on FenderVision, this is the shiznet.

You'd have to get the MIM I'm pretty sure. The others were over 2000 I think.
I think the Dimension is the most interesting looking bass they have come out with since I don't know when. If they don't have some inherent problem they'll probably be around for a long time--- BUT WAIT !!!!!!!!!!!! YOU HAVE TO BUY A JAZZ !!!! The Dimension isn't a Jazz !!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

So- your vote is for a USA Jazz. Nice :)

I was in that exact quandry this past spring.
After looking at quite a number of different models I chose an American Deluxe 4 string in a clear finish over ash.
Here's a pic from the day I got it.

I don't think you made a bad choice!

I tend to agree. They are quite nice, although I have to admit I had not heard that term before until this spring when I bought this bass and you made a similar comment.

Vanilla Tuxedo. I like it. Very descriptive.

That is a really nice looking bass. I hope it kicks-- forgive me but I didn't know Fender offered blocks on the Usa basses. I don't keep up with all the new stuff-- I have a lot of basses and I had to try and put a stop to my GAS.

Definitely, an American Standard. Then on go the Nylons!

Check it out. They're not just solid black inlays. And yah, it kicks.

I'd get a fretless.
I'm not sure on the prices, but either the Jaco Pastorius Jazz Bass (Non tribute model) or the American Standard Jazz Bass® Fretless. (But I'd be good with the MIM fretless J Bass and keep the extra cash...)

If i got fretted bass I'd get the Geddy Lee one (The non tribute one)

I'm sure the Tribute ones are over the limit.-and they're reliced to look like the originals--I don't need that.

I've played the regular Geddy Lee J Bass, and it was under $2000.
