O.K.! Here's the situation. The neck on my fretless jazz is the narrowest, fastest neck in the world. The body is a little lighter than my other Jazz and doesn't have the guts. I'm really thinking about swapping necks. Yeah I know it's not that big of a deal, but if I do that, there will be TWO basses that will be obsessed about, tuning, tweaking, spending way too much time with. (Insert heavy sigh here)

O.K., I feel better now.

Do It!

Put it on your favorite body, and hot rod it to get the tone you want. They're your basses. Make them the way you want them. 8)

thanks for the reply. You're right and i should do it, but it will be a MAJOR endeavor. I'm totally obsessive when it comes to doing this kind of project. I drive myself nuts! then it takes too long and I hurry and then I'm not satisfied and have to re-do something, then I start thinking, BLACK GLASS SPARKLE PICKGUARD!

(Insert another heavy sigh here)

I'd like to talk but I have to go to work.

If I were doing the mod, I'd use the fretless neck, and mount it on a Precision body. 8)

Hello OX. :D

Swapping necks-- when I've done it -I've noticed it changes the sound of the basses -sometimes it's good but sometimes not. Usually one of them sounds worse- maybe. It just comes to me that way when I think about it.

I'm glad someone came up with a new topic- I was getting really freaked with the same stuff for like 12 weeks or 7.

Before Bebe came along, my Precision had the best neck, still is awesome. I've thought about swapping it onto the first Jazz, but it worked so well on the Precision, which is one one of the best basses I've ever played.

I thought about that too.

It has been rather lame around here hasn't it?

Come on people! Let's get busy!

Get some bass amps and cabs and come on down to the amp forum. Get into the modification zone!
