The serial you provided is a 2005/2006 model year serial. Not a 1975 serial.

If you want specific info like where it was shipped to when new and the spec sheet data for it, write to Consumer Relations. They often have that and will usually send it.

Fender Musical Instruments Corporation
Attn: Consumer Relations Dept.
17600 N. Perimeter Drive, Suite 100
Scottsdale, AZ 85255

Telephone: (480) 596-7195
Fax: (480) 367-5262
E-mail: consumerrelations@fender.com

A 1975 serial would range from 400000 to 500000 with no letter prefix such as the "Z" in your serial.

Isn't there a rather recent natural finish Jazz with blocks that they call a 75?

Sorry. The document says that it is a model jazz bass vintage 75. Need info about wood body and when that bass made in 2005 or 2006?

Jazz Basses made in 1975 had bodies of ash. I believe Fender's re-issues of this instrument are also ash.

The serial dates to the 2005 model year which ran the fiscal year of July 1, 2005 till June 30, 2006. It is a 2005 model year serial but could actually have been made in calendar year 2006. You can call it a 2005 model because of the Z5 serial, but don't be surprised if it turns out it was actually made in June of 2006 as that is entirely possible.

The only way to nail it down closer is to write an email to the address I posted in my first response. You might be surprised at how much info they have on your serial. Spec sheet, which dealer they shipped it to and when plus maybe more. I'd also go ahead and ask for the parts list and wiring diagram while you are at it.

You could get a response in an hour or a few days but you'll get a response with the information you want including body wood.
