Hello, I'd like to know some info about my rare jazz bass:
It's a 2000 MIA jazz bass special edition, quilted top finish. Serial number is DZ067836. This serial is for DeLuxe jazz bass, but mine is passive and not active like others DeLuxe. It has a 60 decal.
Thanks

Welcome.

Post a couple of pictures and - if possible - a video showing your baby in action; this might help a lot.

That is one I've never seen before. The serial checks out as legit 2000 USA. I'd agree that if the neck is original to the body that it is not a commonly seen Deluxe series instrument. The serial is a Deluxe serial, but I thought all 2000 Jazz Deluxes were active. In fact I thought all Jazz Deluxes were active regardless of the year. How did you come upon this? Did you buy it new?

Hi frankbrigante,
I wasn't able to track the serial as you posted it........But I DID find one that was the same EXCEPT it had an extra digit in the serial number. From what I can see in the pictures, aside from the pickguard, this looks like it might be it. The serial number I found was completed 11/03/2000 shipped to a dealer in WI 11/08/2000. Just in case it DOES match-----here's what the one I traced specs out as.
All the best,
rob

Thank you for all information. Some months ago I spoke with another people, and He has the same model with the same serial number DZ0..... (America DeLuxe). In my country I know about two or three people and they have a similar model but the serial number is Z0...... (American series)

this link is the people (his nickname is jimB52) in the US that have the same:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/show-m ... ndex3.html

this link speak about a stratocaster series like my jazz I think, but I'm not sure:

Hi Again Frankbrigante,
I posted to specifications because it does resemble the bass you showed. You could tell better than I could, having it with you. The serial number you gave is actually missing a number from the one I found. Its pretty much the same though. They both did have the DZ designation., the color looks right, and the top looks as described also.
At any rate, hope it helped to come closer to identifying what you may have.

All the best,
rob

American Series bodies are made out from non-veneered alder or ash. This bass is a very rare exception.
