Hello all,

First time posting here. I'm unable to find any information on a old Jazz Bass neck so I was hoping someone here might help.

The Jazz Bass is a 1970's model. Dates on pots etc, confirms this. The only thing that doesnt match up for the era is the neck stamp. There is no stamp on the butt of the neck by the truss rod like I've read there should be...The neck, binding, tuners, etc all look as aged as the body though.

Usually there are 8 numbers on early 70's and sometimes a letter at the end.

Also there is about a 50/50 chance of finding all 8 to be legible based upon ongoing experiences. So if it looks like 6 numbers, then you are missing 2.

Don't panic. That isn't abnormal at all. Fully half of these neck stamps will have a missing or smeared number. Sometimes it is hard to tell 8's from 9's or 6's. Things like that make vintage Fenders so fascinating to me. And what are the pot codes?

My 74 has no date stamp on the heel. I"ve always heard some had a stamp and some did not. It was the 70's and everyone was high. :D

The pots date to 1971 or 72 iirc. Also I need to measure but the radius is definitely not 7.25". Does anyone happen to know if other radius are common back then?

Widths varied but radius was constant I think. Should be 8 numbers in 1970.
