One Ox does not necessarily rule out the other Ox....lol.

Now I want to come and hear you play. The fact that you dedicated that much time to figuring out his work is incredible. He has to be on just about everyone's short list of bass players that made an impact.

I can't do anything halfway. My OCD won't let me and the voices in my head won't allow it.

When I made the decision to get back to playing, it was to make up for not really having anything creative in my life. Work, sleep, go through the motions. After i reached a point in growth, I realized that new challenges had to present themselves. John's arrangements have always been a challenge, if you want to play them right. The more you listen to them the more you hear. Yeah, he's my hero, but he is amazing.

The one song that still baffles me to this day, is 5:15. For some reason I just can't nail it.

Poor wife had to put up with me with an amp that didn't have a headphone out for about eight months, bahahaha!

As I mentioned earlier, having grabbed up a bunch of dvds, it really helped to learn his style. there were times when i would just put the bass down and turn off the amp and watch.

Check this out.

Thanks James. He always wanted full bass and full treble, with a whole lot of stuff in between.

Bebe is enjoying her new adornments and, with all this John Entwistle talk, I tried some of his licks on the fretless.

No good, you need a Precision to play his licks, anybody remember Frankenstein? He used it on virtually all of The Who's best, all the way up to Who's Next

I've tried the samething trying to play Rush licks & Yes licks on my fretless,......it's not the same...you need frets & speaking of Rush they're here in Vancouver tonight & needless to say
I'm gonna see Geddy slappa da Bass man (I love that scene from "I Love you Man" )
I remember The Ox's Frankenstien Bass well.. would it be safe to say he was the first or one of the First guys to modify his bassses by swapping out parts?? I think Bill Wyman was doing a bit of this too back in the '60's.

I never tire of hearing him share the tale of creating Frankenstein. At least he wasn't destroying a hotel room. Drat, can't find a clip of that.

Geddy is a great musician, Rush, and Geddy's solo album, are number two as far as number of songs on my computer as soon as I buy a cd, it goes on the computer then back in the case.

Wasn't long after I started playing again, we were in a big box store and there was a six cd Rush set. needless to say, I bought it. I've spent a lot of time with Geddy to, in a lot of ways I think he's harder to figure than John, he is accomplished.

Have a great time at the show. Drink a Moosehead for me!
