I've seen pics of P basses with JB pups and vice versa.

I probably listen to such basses in a day of listening to music, but just don't know it.

If you put, say, a PB pup in a JB, would the JB sound exactly like a PB? Or do differences in body contribute to the differences?

I would say the body contributes quite a bit to the tone of any bass. The J/P configutation is very popular and apparently sells quite well. No lefties, so you'd have build one yourself.
Here's a thread on it's origins

Yeah, I know they don't make them lefty. Don't know if I'd want one, but I'm curious as to whether it actually sounds like a PB.

Lovely black bass, chromeface. What's your estimation, two in one or something different?

Wow- nice bass!! I had the Fender Jazz they called a P with the P pickup and it didn't sound like a Jazz- was that Blink 182? Sorry they come and go so quick anymore (Bands) it's hard to keep track of the next best bands that sound like the last best bands.
Is it just me or what???
