All is going well with the new bass. Recently Mr. Nylon presented me with a set of his infamous D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewound Strings

As the picture shows, they are now on Bebe. They are nice strings, they sing, the resonance is awesome and the feel is unlike anything else, well, there is something that feels like that, but this is a family Forum.

OX! What a TUFF Bass that is partner. Great quality photo. You really did a good shot on the fretless. Good snag on getting it too. GO NYLONS!

Not done with her yet, a new pickguard will be forthcoming. As I was changing strings i discovered something I had overlooked. Look at my avatar and tell me what you see. All I'm sure of , is, I have two "Mystery" Jazz basses. Another thing, the barrel on the E string was on backwards, I never noticed that either, how it worked up till now i have no idea. As much as i whine about working on instruments, I can. I just never have the time because little things get complicated.

I did have to readjust the string height with the NYLONS, I had the othe set right down on, and these were just a tad bigger.

Surprised to say that they sound almost like it was a fretted bass, it could be me, I've found that playing directly on the fretlines eliminates the mwah. Using the Tech 21 Sansamp Bassdriver also helps create a whole new realm of tone too.

All in all, you're sounding pretty positive about the ETB92's. I like the mid range size of them. .50, .65, .85, .105. I had a few folks liking them in Nashville a couple of weeks ago. And that was with Nylons on a 4003.

Mr. Nylon, Mr. Nylon, Mr. Nylon, you didn't answer the question! You won't get any pudding, if you don't answer the question!

Look at my avatar, what do you see? Should you get it right, you'll get your pudding tomorrow, it's past your bedtime as it is!

You have better eyes than I do on the avatar. I was wondering what that was on the left head. I couldn't make out that it was another string tree.

I forgot to ask you, how did the Nylons fit going on top feed to the bridge, as opposed to through the body feed?

Yes, it was another string tree, I've got to tell brotherdave about this one. Somehow I doubt it was made that way.

The strings worked out just fine, the lengths were good too, except te E, I had to trim it a bit.

I'm glad you spotted that. I'd hate to think that you wouldn't have any pudding on Father's Day!

As you know, better than most, I've seen a few basses. Never though two string trees on a Fender. I can see how the E string would need a bit more trimming because of the added length from previously being strung through the body.
