...... I wonder why Fender doesn't include these numbers in their product dating section??

Good point. Export instruments were so locked out of support that they don't even support looking up the numbers! I would suggest contacting FMIC Consumer Relations and seeing if then can ID that serial with more info. I would not speculate on whether or not they can.

Once an export instrument goes to the foreign distributor, it is entirely up to the foreign distributor to support it. Fender would have no obligation to maintain any data on it as it becomes the foreign distributor's responsibility.

Also serial number dating is not exactly 100% reliable anyway. I bet on this one if you look at the other hallmarks it is just as genuine as any domestic model and will date to the 1989 model year or thereabouts.

Good Luck Petri,....if you take the neck off you'll find a stamped date on the neck & a stamped date on the body,......& it's quite common to find the the date on the neck is a little older than the date stamped on the body..

It is a shame we do not have access to these alternative serial sequencing systems, makes verification difficult, or even incorrect in some cases.

I agree,.....Many these American Fender's destined for Europe, will do doubt make their way to other parts of the world & some even back to North America,.....so it would be nice in the event that someone (here or in Europe) gets one of these instruments they'd know what market (part of Europe) it was destined to & the year the instrument was made........IMO :)

Found a telecaster with same sort of number. Think it is probably a fake. Going to create a new post in the Tele section to see if anyone has any ideas
