I was reading through the owners manual on my Jazz American deluxe 5 string.
In the part that explains how to set-up the action, it talks about the saddle adjustments.
It says "Adjust the bridge saddles to height according to the factory recommendation, then re-tune."

My question is, where do I find the "factory recommendations" if I'm already using the factory manual?
I am probably overlooked something.
But any help - THANKS!!!!!!!!

You need the SETUP GUIDE which isn't in the manual that comes with the instrument.

Here you go: http://www.fender.com/support/articles/bass-guitar-setup-guide/

There are other setup guide resources online, such as this one which is really, really good:

http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/setupmanual.html$@!

It is good to learn to setup your own bass, but no matter how long I work on a setup, there is a guy here in town that can do it better. He is amazing. I basically have him set up my instruments then I do minor seasonal tweaks if and when they are required. He does it all day long and has far more experience. After he sets one up I use the same string set on the instrument at every string change and only change one string at a time when changing strings. So far his setups have held up well. I get him to do it once, then don't touch anything until a minor tweak is needed.

Enjoy!
