I hate to bring this up in the midst of your attempt to justify more GAS but I think it's actually bad luck to have an odd number. I don't like the idea of there being a proverbial "middle child".

On the plus side now that you're all evened up this means you get to buy two at a time from now on! Go big or go home!

Wow, I never thought of that!

oxfan I believe you are correct.......it is bad luck to have an even number of basses and it is an insult to the bass gods to sell one.
But not to worry......I have a solution for you.......send one of them to me.....you'll be back to owning an odd number of basses without selling one. The bass gods will smile upon you!

Whoa! I never thought of that either! I think if I did that, my "Nice Lady would have something to say about it. I probably wouldn't see her for two days, then on the third, just a little out of one eye.! :D

I'm sorry for not replying sooner, I don't always get post notifications.

By the way, that Precision really fits you. It really is a beautiful instrument. I'm thinking black glass sparkle pickguard for the new bass.

I'm glad we have the opportunity to share all of our wisdom here. We see the diversity of international and sometimes, ethnic traditions. Here in the States we ward off bad luck by carrying a hockey puck in our pocket.

Well I woudn't want your "Nice Lady" lookin' sideways at ya, so hang on to those basses!
I would like to see that black sparkle pg. I haven't seen a sparkle pg of any color on a bass yet. I would like to see how it looks. I did consider a silver sparkle to go on the candy cola p-bass.
Still lovin' the p-bass. I'll play the Squier VM around the house and sometimes at band practice. Really nice bass and I enjoy playing it. Then I'll pick up the p-bass and I'm like....oh yeah.....

No problem Ron. I'll get em to ya'. If you like them, cool. If you don't no problem. Hang on to them, or pass them on to some one. On Fretless Jazzes I've played in the past, the D'Addario Nylons or the D'Addario flats did well.

Hey, if those Nylons are still floating around somewhere, I'd like to give them a shot. I have a fretless Precision I got used with rounds, and I haven't changed strings yet.

i need to try a p with flats . . . got a cheap peavey to see if i like a p, since i'm typically a jazz guy, but flats are probably part of the whole experience!

My Steve Harris P Bass & My Jaco Fretless Jazz bass both came with flats on them,......I still use flats on the Fretless, I like warm vintage old school tone they give & more importantly I fear the Poly expoxy coating on the Fretboard would start to chip off
if I used rounds,..... it would also start chewing up the fret board.......that being said I'm thinking of trying a set of Rotosound Solo 55 half rounds.
I also switched from the stock Flats to Rotosound Roto Bass 45's on my Steve Harris P-Bass shortly after I got it back in 2009, I'm thinking I'm gonna go back to Flats...next string change (once again ...sounds old school) ........I'm gonna keep rounds on the rest of the Arsenal though ...... :)

Flats definitely are a change. I've always used rounds. This new fretless has been a learning experience for me, as it was my first. I've found it to be completely different to play than any of my other basses. I like my strings up a little higher than most people do, I find more thump there. Not a ridiculous height, but when others play my basses, they're suprised at first, but get it.

I lowered the strings on the fretless to the minimum height I could, it plays very well, but it's almost too easy, the neck is slim and smooth and just flows.

I really wonder if I'll put the "Mr. Nylon" strings on, they haven't arrived as of yet, they are coming via armored car. I've been offered 462,000 for them to date. i may just hold onto the as an investment, but then again, at my stage of life, i may want to pad my portfolio.

Helllooooo OX. I had a bit of a time getting to the post office with the Nylons, but like you said they are on the way via; Armored Car.

For the players that want a flat string sound, don't want to tear up the the fretboard, and frets, Try Nylons.

Mr. Nylon Signature D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewound Strings
Don't string your bass without them!
