I have been hearing a lot about the pro steels and they seem really nice but, I have been hearing some awesome reveiws on the EB's as well. I was wondering what ya'll think about both strings and maybe some new suggestions. I play everything from country to rock to funk. Thanks :)

Wow that is a lot of territory to cover with one set of strings. What works for me won't work for you with the same results. If you want to try those two then I'd try the cobalts first. I always liked the Super Super Slinky EB's for Funk. Trying to picture them working for country and that might work for some players, but not me. I'd get 45/65/85/105 Hybrid Cobalts as they will be more versatile to cover the country thing but not quite as funky.

The Pro-Steels....pretty short life there, but sound good when new. What works for me as the most versatile are roundwounds, so you are looking in the right direction.

Another set that I've found VERY versatile when new is the GHS 3025 Precision Flatwound set and they could cover all those bases for a few weeks. Picked for rock they are great when fresh and they are the funkiest flat. Remarkably versatile.

Maybe what you really need is something you haven't even considered like Rotosound Swing Bass 66 or Thomastik-Infeld EB344 Power Bass. The only round I use now is the TI EB344. They aren't as bright as the Rotos but they last for years. No kidding.

Brotherdave you are the man! Thats why I love this forum this is just a fountian of knowledge and I'm glad I am part of it. I have tried the Rotos before and they were good but, didn't last as long as I would like. I think I'm going with the cobalts for now because currently I use Ernie Ball Regular slinkys and they are great they just dont last and the Cobalts were said to last really long so we shall see about that one lol 8) I might have to give the Thomastiks a try as well. I will let ya'll know how the cobalts do when they come in.

I am just a poor boy, though my story's seldom told. I have squandered my resistance, on a bazillion pack of EB Super Slinky strings. I should run out around....never.

They're actually not bad. Not nuts about their flats though.

Yeah and I have a lifetime supply of TI Power Bass EB344's. My mind is made up on those. However if I was doing funk or fusion I'd want those Super Slinky sets.
