I'd like to lower the saddles on my Geddy Lee P-Bass. Anyone know the size of the hex key needed to do my own adjustment? I need to go buy some tools...

Better to have a complete kit of Hex Key . This is usefull all of your life . Go to Home Depot and buy Husky brand .

Never buy low quality or unknow quality , wrong size of Hex key can damage your screw.

Good luck. I bought 2 different full sets of hex keys. None fit. That one is a weird size.

Emailed Leo Quan who makes them twice through their support site. That was about 4 yrs ago. No answer yet. Still waiting. LOL.

Went to the local Fender tech and he didn't have one that would fit.

Forum member Oxfan scoured hardware stores in Pittsburgh for me also. He sent a bunch of them, none of those fit. Thanks though for trying.

Finally called THE BASS PLACE out in Arizona and he sent me one.

That is the LAST Leo Quan product I'll buy. I'll also never buy a Fender bass with a Leo Quan bridge unless I can swap a Fender bridge for it. Seems Leo Quan doesn't need to support existing customers who buy stuff one unit at a time. They just don't care.

That's incredible. I know by your answers on forum you have lots of experience . But screw / allen/ bolt are not a rocket science .
Your set of Allen key is one is Metric ? Or both are American ( english ) ?

StratTele, you'd be surprised the kind of goofy crap that companies will pull. So many times I've had to alter a tool to shave it here or there to make it fit since ordering through the navy supply system would either take too long or the tool was too expensive to be justified (yeah, I love beuracracy). Just because the stuff you buy most places is standardized doesn't mean some goon will have "the next best thing" and throw normalcy to the wind, especially if they get as sought after as a badass bridge is.

No I'm not surprise but I see more crap tool ( Allen key / wrench , socket , name it ...) than crap Allen head .

Other than it is some freaky size, no other explanation. I bought two sets of Cobalt brand hex keys in SAE and Metric. Neither set had one that would work. These were not cheap sets. All of them were either too big or too small. Checked local stores, online stores, had friends in other cities check. The only one that worked was the one I got from Dave Goldenfarb of THE BASS PLACE in Peoria Arizona. At the time they were in Tempe, Arizona and I'm not sure Dave Goldenfarb is still associated with them.

Fender includes the Hex key with the Geddy Lee Jazz, Marcus Miller Jazz, Steve Harris P- Bass & any other Bass that they sell with a Badass II bridge on them. (provided you bought the bass New).......... if you bought it used ask the person or store you bought it from if they still have the Hex Key,...... you could also attempt to contact Fender Customer Relations & ask them for the Hex Key .......... 3 of My basses mentioned above all came with the Hex Key......... & Dave's right it's an odd size.
