I don't understand the pickup being stuck unless it is a really tight fit in the cavity or unless the mounting foam is stuck to the pickup and to bottom of the cavity. On some vintage Jazzes (real USA vintage and some USA Vintage Reissues) the pickup is attached to foam that is sticky on both sides and the foam goes between the pickup and a brass shielding plate. I don't think these have ever been used in MIM Jazzes. Even with the brass plates it should lift right out. They may have used double sided sticky foam.

The pickup seem to be glued under... Its four ends, it's all free. I've seen pickup that had the springs to the four screws, and I thought that these were the springs. it is glued to the body! I must break it :D

Question:

The new PU I bought, have the new foam or should I buy them separately? I tried to understand, but without finding anything...

Thank again brotherdave

Brother Dave....a side question if you would oblige....

For a 5 string (stock MIM Jazz in this case) what, in your opinion, is the best cap option to improve B string sound? Or will this even have an effect? Not that the string is bad sounding just not as clear and defined as I would like. Maybe just the nature of the beast.

Usually you have to get the mounting foam separately with Fender pickups. I just usually peel off the old foam and reuse it. The foam is basically weather stripping foam. You can buy it from Guitar Parts Resource dot com. The exception is for the ones with the shielding plates in the circuit.

Really tone caps make more difference on higher tones where the distortion becomes more evident. On lower notes it sounds warm, but on higher notes becomes more like ice picks in your ear.

Caps are really cheap, mostly under 2 or 3 dollars. For about $12 you can have one of every type to try. 1 Ceramic Disc is about $1, 1 Poly Orange Drop is about $2.50, 1 Mylar Orange Drop is another $2.50 and that leaves $6 for a Soviet Paper In Oil cap. I think which cap to use depends on the player, the instrument, the strings, the amp, what effects you will use and the type music you want to play. As with strings, the cap I like might not be your favorite so you'll have to decide that yourself. It is simple to alligator clip in a cap for a quick try out.

In the packcage Original Fender JazzBass there are all the necessary objects. The Foam with shielding plates :D I decided to use an aluminum foil for internal shielding :)
