I'd say I like the necks and the pickup set up on a Jazz. I like to roll back the bridge PU just a tad and have the neck on full.

The best thing about my 72 is the way it looks
" " 01 is the sound
" " 12 homebuilt is the P neck on it and the different sound it has.

Except for the years I quit playing, I have always had a jazz or two. I guess it just gives me a huge amount of confidence knowing I am playing one of the best basses ever produced. So I guess I would say the best thing about my jazz basses are their ability to make me feel good.

They're mine! Actually, i like the feel of a jazz bass. I prefer the neck on my Precision but the jazz is a completely different beast that gives me a whole new range of tone.

I find my Jazz to be very comfortable to play. It's nice and light, and fits my body well. The neck is excellent in it's comfort and playability. The tonal excellence and versatility of the pickups is supurb.

I'm a big fan of both J and P basses but the Jazz neck fits my hand better than the P. It's easier to play those faster runs and triplets on a J neck. The dual pups offer more tonal options too.

Seems everything I buy these days
Has got a foreign name
From the kind of car I drive
To my video game
I got a NIKKON camera
A Sony color Tee Vee
But the one that I love is from the U.S.A.
On a stand next to me.

My baby is American Made
Born and bred in the U.S.A.
From her silky long neck to her sexy pickups
My baby is American Made.

She looks good in her vintage burst
She got in Fullerton
And she loves wearing Labella flats
Everywhere we go
But when it comes to the playin' part
One thing is true
My baby's genuine U.S.A

The necks are wonderful, of course, as everybody knows but for me the best thing is the tone. A Precision sounds a touch boomy for me and maybe even just a little muddy. Don't get me wrong, I'd take a Precision over just about any other brand but I love the note definition and the growl of a Jazz. The difference to me is somewhat similar to the difference between a Strat and a Les Paul except for the humbucker aspects, of course. Some people think a Jazz sounds thinner than a Precision but I think the Jazz has more texture than the Precision in the way of harmonics, character and the subtle nuances of your particular playing style.

My answer: tone.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

"The best thing about my jazz bass" -

......was to remove the stock pickups and replace them with a set of DiMarzio DP149 Ultra Jazz as soon as I got it home from the dealer.

NOW, the jazz bass truly acts and sounds like a jazz bass without the irritating hum associated with dual single coil pickups running through individual volume controls.

I'll bet that its a 1962-64. That looks to be one fine Jazz bass!

I have a 1971. It's very consistent and familiar. It has a comfortable neck and it always sounds great.
I really like a Jazz bass.

What I really like about Fender bass guitars is, they all have their own personality. Having recently found another Jazz, it's like making a new friend.

I've been at the place for a few years now where I won't even consider anything but Fender.

I agree completely with your assesment.....but I'm on the P-bass side. I can dial out the muddiness that a p-bass can produce and get a good defined note, but I love the big sound it provides and how you can not only hear each note, but feel it as well.
Clarity of the notes is definitely an advantage of the Jazz. Smaller neck is easier to play as well.
Bottom line (pun intended  ) both basses bring something unique to the table. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to find "your" tone with a P-bass or a Jazz.
