Hi,
I'm putting together two J Bass Vs. One is an American Standard and the other is an American Deluxe.
A simple question - can I use neck plate screws that would fit a "normal" (i.e Tele or Strat) guitar, or do they need to be longer screws as it's a bass (and a five-string as well) and therefore the neck is under greater tension?
Many thanks for any advice.
Simon

Fender neck plate screws are all the same size, if they are the ones supplied by Fender.
There are a lot of companies making neck plate screws and most are perfectly fine for the job but some are longer, wider etc. so buyer beware.

The stock ones sold by Fender will do a fine job. there is no need for bigger or longer screws because its a bass or a 5 string bass. as long as the hole is drilled to the proper size the standard neck screws are fine.
