Saw the Moody Blues tonight, front row center seats, backstage and onstage passes, photo with the band - nice present from my wife. John's Jazz is new since I last saw them in 2012, so I thought you all might appreciate it. (Sorry, but they didn't let us get too close.)

And some really nice vintage equipment still being used. (photo is from my seat)

Nice !! how was the show ? The Moody Blues never disappoint... :) & speaking of classic Rock acts,......I'm hoping Yes comes my way soon, they're also great live !! (except now days they're touring with out Jon Anderson), ......he was replaced with Benoit David who Chris Squire found on You Tube in late 2009 & then 2 yrs later Benoit David was replaced with current singer Jon Davidson,.... I should mention that Jon Anderson was replaced when he fell ill with respiratory issues & Benoit was replaced when he ironically fell ill with vocal issues & was told by his doctor not to sing for 6 months .......in both cases Yes decided to soldier on with a new singer instead of waiting for Anderson & Benoit to recover .

They were outstanding, as usual. I miss hearing them with symphony orchestras. All the way through 2014 (UK) no gigs are planned with an orchestra. Last time I saw that was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin....probably 15 years ago? Graeme lives near me...he is going to be 72, oldest in the group, still rocks.

Funny you would mention YES. The couple next to us is going to see them very soon, so they must be in or coming to SW Florida as well. Maybe both will follow the same trail for you.

This isn't bass stuff, but Justin is still playing the 63 red Gibson, among others... he pulled out a (vintage) Fender Telecaster a couple times and a couple acoustic electric Guilds...one six, one twelve, no idea age. Kind of neat sitting so close you can actually hear the strings of the acoustics and the electrics through the vintage equipment. Nice night. The ball is in my court now - going to be tough to beat that one - but I have a couple months until her birthday.

WOW!! amazing,....... The Moody Blues play here in Vancouver every couple of yrs,...(most recently they did an out door concert at Deer Lake Park last Summer) Yes hasn't played here since 2004, ...they were going to play Vancouver in 2009 but Jon Anderson had fallen ill,........ You say a couple sitting next to you was going to see them in SW Florida,......that would make sense as Yes is doing a series of concerts on Cruise ships,...they're calling it Cruise to the Edge, .... check it out.
http://cruisetotheedge.com/itinerary interesting stuff,.... I think were going to see more Classic Rock Bands going this route in the future.......Marcus Miller does these Jazz Cruises every January.

Great player. Very smooth. Nice bass and a swell pro rack full of Ampeg SVT2's. What cabs did he use or could you tell?

John Lodge is a favorite of mine, matter of fact, I listened to them at work last night for a few hours. A mpc with powered speakers makes for a much better work environment.

He has a great sound, as well as the rest of them.

Sorry Brother Dave, no clue.

We did have some quality Q&A time with the sound engineer but he focused on the the big picture stuff. Evidently a lot of the sound equipment and speaker cabinets are furnished by the event center, or leased through whatever vendor the event center uses, and the band hooks in. I noticed all the vintage amps had mics hanging down in front of them, which leads me to believe they were being used at some level. On the picture below, the center cable is Justin (John is off to the right as always, but wireless). Justin uses a hardwire connection for all of his guitars, everyone else is wireless. It looks like his cable sneaks up the left side of the Fender amp. The single cable on the left is also his and sneaks across in front of the amps and under the curtain below Gordon's drum set, where the mighty wizard of oz lives. No clue about the single cable on the right.

Sorry I can't be of more help on that one. I haven't seen what pictures my wife ended up with....maybe a lead there.

Okay, now I'm just being a jerk. Call it first time in the front row syndrome.

You know, Brother Dave, that would explain why she was pulling on my arm and insisted we were not available for their rock n roll cruise next week. :D
