I've just tripped over a guitar lead and smashed my Jazz Bass onto an amp and a foot pedal. The is scuffing on the top of the head stock and the base of the guitar is severely chipped and marked.
This is more than annoying as it is a Custom Shop that took 10 months to come through and within 4 months it is damaged terribly.

What is the policy on repairing damage on a Jazz Bass? And how long would it take?

Regards,

Tom Barton

I think you will probably wind up getting it repaired by a highly skilled restoration luthier. Fender doesn't do repairs like this to the best of my knowledge.

I have been told by Matt Brown, with Fender Custom Care, that the custom shop isn't set up for repairs and even if they were, they would only do warranty work. I was told instead of repairs, they re-build the damaged part.......BUT.......they are currently repairing two small blemishes on my FCS bass that were damaged in shipping......so what do I know?????
You're probably going to have to find a skilled restoration luthier, as brotherdave mentioned. How long it will take will have to be decided by the person doing the repairs.
Sorry about your misfortune and I hope you get the bass fixed to your satisfaction in a timely manner.
Good luck to you.

I do have a list of major repair/restoration people prepared on my bass website at this link:
http://brotherdave.com/add_majorrefin.htm

Note that Curtis Novak who is listed as doing restorations is no longer doing restorations because he now concentrates exclusively on pickups.
