Help me out here, guys... would putting one of the metal covers over my front pickup reduce electrical hum? I'd really like to fix this problem "organically" as opposed to using some kind of noise-reducing stompbox. The only drawback I can see at the moment is losing a good inch-and-a-half or so of plucking space...

thanks,
kyle

I wouldn't think so, the pickup covers seem to serve the functional purpose of a palm rest more-or-less, as well as cosmetic additions. They will not clear any hum. However, check the wiring as there could be a bad ground or bad soldering (take it to a Fender tech if you are unsure). You could also change out the pups for noiseless ones, this will cancel the 60Hz hum inherent in the single coil.
