I bought a brand new J bass, and the A string saddle adjustment screw was seized. I need to replace the bridge (or just the saddles) but I can't find any parts at all for this bass. I am very disappointed that fender themselves do not sell parts. Having gone out and looked to find replacements bridges, I found this:

http://www.amazon.com/Fender-099-0804-1 ... $@!+bridge

But it doesn't say which models of Squier bass, if any, it will fit. My Bass serial number is CY111000341, which I think is from China. The description on the bridge specifically says "American". So, does that mean it absolutely will not fit? Does the China made J bass have the same size bridge as the American? Where can I find this information?

I know that ebay is full of cheep counterfeit parts so I won't buy anything from ebay. But it looks like Amazon isn't much better since all parts are from 3rd party sellers, so who knows what I'm really buying. Where can I find a reputable parts dealer?

And just out of curiosity, why doesn't fender sell parts? I mean, there must be someone who makes authentic, legitimate parts. Where do you buy parts? Can you share a link?

You may find something here. Be sure to look at all of them. Good luck.

Good news, a customer rep at Fender offered to replace the bridge. I sent him my name and address, and hopefully that will be sent it out soon-ish. In the mean time, I bought a feeler gauge, 6 inch ruler and a capo so I can try to do the adjustments after installing the new bridge. I'll probably need new strings, too.

@Oxfan, thank you for the link. I see the Squier bridge at the bottom for $9. Good to know that is out there, just in case.

Cheers everyone!

If it is brand new this is a warranty issue. You shouldn't have to buy a part at all. Glad Squier is taking care of it.

By the way for your future use there is a SQUIER BASS forum. You might want to check it out. Go the the Board Index and scroll down, it is down there.

A metal part seized? Get some Kroil and apply. It works.

Glad you are getting a new bridge.
