Hi Guys and Gals

I have a 72 Jazz bass neck with no nut. Does anybody know where i can buy a replacement???

All the ones i've seen for sale seem to be around 5mm too long. The nut width I'm looking for is around 35mm. 1.3 inches rather than 1.5.

Thanks

You'll have to cut one.

Yeah I was trying to avoid that. Hard to believe nobody makes one. The neck width is used over quite a few years.

You can go get a junk plastic or even a cyclovac nut for it . I'd say your best bet is to have a whole bass ( body and neck etc. ) then take it to a repair guy and have them do it up for you.

Thanks for the advice. Even the plastic ones i've found are too big. looks like i'll make one myself as i'm 3 hours away from a reputable repairer. Maybe make a few and sell them off :)

If you have never installed or taken a nut off a neck before or cut a nut- I would advise against you doing that. It's real easy to screw up a fretboard. I'd at least get a repair manual that details how to do the whole process. Just some advice from someone who has messed up a neck before... me.
