Bummer!

My first bass was an Ibanez BTB405 (bought used); I still have it. My second bass was a Fender Deluxe P bass Special. They have been joined by a P, and a Blacktop P. :D :D :D

First bass was a Bentley Series 10 from 1980 and some, has a wicked fast neck and a rosewood fretboard. Got it for a Christmas present one year. First one I bought for myself was an Ibanez Destroyer Bass from 1984, Sparkle Candy Apple Red, matched neck and headstock paint with these GIANT soapbar jazz-buckers kinda like whats in the new Blacktop P. Both of those things were like the hands of god, just HUGE bottom end. Still have that Series 10, it's all stickered up and some duct tape on a crack between the mid pickup and the neck.

My first bass I still have and use is a MIJ Black 1987 Fender P-Bass. It came with a 60s style wide neck and slab rosewood fretboard. Over the years I have gone to a jazz bass. I take 3 basses to my gigs my 87 P-Bass, 90 JP-90, and a 95 Jazz Bass. I use the p-bass about 15-20% of the time but it has a lot of sentimental value

My first bass was a Telestar (Teisco) bought at "Murphy's Mart" in 1972.

I traded it for a drumset in the mid 1970s.

Recently I saw the identical (horrible) bass on ebay... and I bought it.

Here is a pic.

With the great basses that I own today this is destined to hang on the wall as a reminder of how far that I've come.

My first bass was a Johnson P bass copy. Horrible action and fretwork. A real POS.

I graduated to a Peavey Grind which was a good solid player and a tremendous improvement over the Johnson. It had a few dead spots but it got me used to a thin neck. I still have it but it needs some electrical work, fret dressing and a good setup to be useable again.

My first bass was a Maya Jazz bass (Japan) in 3tone-sunburst. The neck is oke, with binding and block inlay (I still have it). The body is of multiplex with veneer on both sides.

It is the bass on which a I learned to play.

Started playing in 65 with a candy apple red jazz, used. Not sure what year, but there is a pretty small window there. I think I paid $125. Duplicated it in 2010 and now play a 50th Anniversary Jazz, candy apple red....surprised?

My first was a Washburn B 20 with a sunburst finish. I bought it in 1978. A few months later I traded it and $50 for a 1972 Precision.

first bass... wow.. this is such a great topic...

Mine was a Samick Jazz Bass copy 3 tone sunburst with white pickguard.. Sold it to a friend.. and then i re-bought it back from him.. i then custom the bass with Fender 60th Anniversary Precision Neck (Mexico).. change the pick-ups to a seymour duncan bassline pickups.. change the bridge to a badass bass bridge 2 and the tuners to wilkinson classic tuners... left the pickguard open to have the jaco look...

but then i sold it... :|

happy with my MIA Jazz and MIM Precision now though...

My first bass was an Aria Mosrite copy. It had a huge crack in the neck joint that ran halfway down the back of the body. I traded a Cort Effector guitar for it. The Cort was actually a better instrumet, but I wanted to play bass with my buds.

Hey Everyone!! (first post here)

My First Bass was a 1959-1969 Fender Precision Bass-well worn and well played.
That was in 1977--Only thing I did was put a Dimarzio PU and a Badass Bridge on it.

It plays better today than it ever did and sounds super sweet!!
