I've played with both ego heads and normal guy guitar players. The normal guys don't have all these odd hang ups in their lives. The Ego guys always have some wierd &%^$ going on in their lives like crazy wives, germophobic, weed, booze, telling fibs, backstabbing, loving themselves ever so much and junk like that. ALSO a normal guy guitar player can turn into an ego head real easy if he has people coming up to him all the time telling him how great he is. A couple years of that and you can have a genyoo wine "ego, look at me, check me out now," guy. I just can't stand them dudes anymore- I go the other way when I see one coming. They are pretty easy to spot. Some of them carry a mini fan to blow their hair back as the walk around.

To me what's worse is the "Militant Head". You know the guy who categorizes music as their favorite band, and everything else. Generally to them anything else sucks. I had a Militant Phish Head in one of my old bands. I played him "Temporal Analogues of Paradise" by Hellborg, Lane, and Sipe. His first reaction was "Phish is so much better." Comparing Apples to Oranges. On another occasion he said of our drummer, "I Just want to punch him in the nose every time he says String Cheese is better than Phish." I responded, "I want to punch you in the nose every time you compare something to Phish."

Sorry, I just had to comment on the $@!&* fest about egocentric musicians.

Congrats on the Fender. I hope it treats you well.

C/S,
Rev J

Had a drummer in a band once who insisted that we play Rush. I like them, but this guy was not the Neil Peart he thought he was, and it was always painful for the rest of us to have to play along with him on those songs. But he whined if he didn't get his way.

As for the bass, it's a wonderful instrument whose quality makes me want to buy a Precision (I'm ocd, literally, but I want matching sunburst basses to go with my sunburst Strat and Tele.)

Guys, I totally agree with you,......been there done that....I don't have anytime for ego's, Hang ups, & musicians with substance abuse issues...... it's draining & counter productive.

The next time I go to someones house and am thinking about doing a band thing and I even slightly sense an under breath comment or if they have fans blowing their hair back like Stevie Nicks or if all the guitar player does is fiddle with his "all in one including toaster oven stomp box" or if the volume in a 10x10 room would kill a mule or if they even look at me wrong-- I'm packin' my junk and leaving---- You want to talk about ego? Well I got plenty of that mister !!!!! Now hand me my jacket and put my bass away for me, I'm gone.

Abraxus for sure. I also like the first Santana album called Santana.

Back on thread...I'm looking forward to playing my JB live in December, give it a test run. I've been playing bass and guitar since 1976, and I've had a few guitars. I know when one is just right, and that's how I feel about the JB. There's absolutely nothing about it that I want to mod, and the feel is just right.

Fender: can't I get some free gear for all the advertising I'm doing for you?
