I don’t know if it’s the right decision but, I’m “Thinning the Herd’ and have put up one of my guitars for sale… If it doesn’t sell at least I can tell my wife, “I tried”. She thinks I have waaaayyy too many guitars and I only have 13…go figure?

I’m selling my 2011 Fender Custom Shop Custom Classic 4-String Jazz Bass in Aged Cherry Sunburst finish with a Maple Neck.

Only 13?? I have 3...but have had 5. 3 is enough.

The other day I saw a guy sell 15 guitars at the local Guitar Center...all of them were PRS, Gibson, Carvin, Fender. High Dollar guitars...and apparently that was only about 25% of his collection.

I admit it...I have a guitar buying disease/bug/issue/whatever...but I don't think (scratch that) I know I'm not ready for a cure.

B-1,

The clinical name for your condition, is: G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome).

There is no known cure, but take heart, you are not alone. Many of us here have come to terms with our affliction and lead relatively normal lives.

The most severe symptoms of G.A.S. are, bruising, bleeding and hearing loss, these three are usually the result of a spouse beating the afflicted individual soundly about the head while screaming.

Thankfully this not the norm.

Ok so here is a twist in logic that I can't figure out that relates to my G.A.S. affliction:
How is it I can drop a few thousand bucks on multiple cruise trips for the wife and I & It's no problem ( don't get me wrong who wouldn't like to cruise but the coin disappears with no equity other than memories) but If I buy another guitar I get the "I'm royally evil treatment"? Ponder that one my friends.

Haha...I've been asked by my family to go on cruises and completely agree with your assessment.

Thus the life of a guitarist! Women, and I will say MOST women, look upon our love of our instruments as a competitor, as we lovingly caress the neck and hold so gently. :D

The one that really gets them is the faces we make when we're playing.

Now before our female contingency wants to smack me, I said MOST not all.

Remember too, we're here to give our educated analysis based on intense observation and practice.

There is no gentle or polite way to address the different cultures of the genders. So I will abstain. Let me state that I sleep alone and have exchanged having a piece for peace. Not a perfect situation, but preferable to my nervous system and emotional body.

I do get to spend more money on what I want and not see endless streams of it disappear down the toilet, literally, from eating out "because it's nice".
