Would you recommend it over the new 08 Jazz?

I don't own the bass myself or anyone i know but i aplyed it at a guitar center and i fell in love. The bass sounds amazing and there is virtualy wrong with it. There is just one small thing that i have noticed. The way that they have altered the body a little bit as in the shape is a little odd its not something HUGE but its noticeable. Even though i noticed that and recognized that i would still buy the bass if i had the money. Don't hesitate on buying this bass.

Well, after finally getting to play the new '08 Jazz Bass I think that's going to be my next Jazz. Then again, I've never played a HWY One.

I am being lame, even responding - because I am a rank rookie at bass - I really play 5-string banjo - but anyway - I just bought a Highway 1 Jazz bass off e-bay last weekend - a good deal. It was brand new, never played, but a 2006 model. 2006 is similar to the 2008 model I believe.

It has a straight neck that feels good, comfortable - seems a nice solid bass. I was not dissappointed in the construction.

How it compares to the other fender basses I know not. Now, I have to figure out how to play it -so I can back up my banjo on recordings.

I received the Black Highway 1 Jazz bass for a wedding present last weekend. I've owned Ibanez, Kramer, Peavey, and played an older Fender Mustang and Fender Precision.

The new Highway 1 bass (forums indicate early models had issues) is great. Fit and finish is excellent as is tone. I changed to flatwound strings as soon as I got it, and the sustain is awesome!

I don't believe you can beat it for the money. If you want a good beginner to intermediate player's instrument, I highly recommend it!
