Hell Jazz Bassists... I have a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass that, as you know, needs a 9 volt battery to feed the active electronics. I want to switch from disposable 9 volts to rechargeable 9 volt batteries (Earth Day and the fact that we are messing up the world already to do so through our art that shoul heal). Investigating brands, I was told that not all rechargeable batteries have 9 volt output; that some actually have around 7.2 volts. I wanted to get an expert opinion: which rechargeables are best for use with active electronics or am I better off with regular 9 volt batteries? Thanks community!

Rechargable batteries lose their juice more quickly than non-rechargables. If I were you I would stick with the throw aways.

What CAFeathers said. Recharge lose charge quicker than throw aways. When I use to gig a lot, I go through them every 6 months. Now I it last 1 -1.5 years on my '87.

I have an American Deluxe Jazz which uses 18 Volt, and was wondering how long it should last and what does it do when it starts to need to be changed.

Mine used to make a small popping noise, like an electrical pop. This was before I knew that's when the battery need replacing. If you hear that, make sure you have a spare (or your case 2 spares). If you gig a lot, about 6 - 8 months, that's with practice with your band too.
