I wanted to know if any one has tried the Frank Bello Bass. It looks cool but how good dose it play?

I've never played one but I suspect it plays as well as any good Fender bass.

I am pretty sure it plays good. People have always said that the tone is not that good. But I think it is. Listening to Bello play his it sounds amazing.

I wouldn't listen to what "people" say -- if you like, buy it. I can't tell you how many times I've wished I would have done that instead of going off someone else's advice. (The irony now, of course, is I'm giving you advice! Can't win! :wink: )

The bass itself doesn't have a tone knob, per Bello's request. It sounds amazing due to his rig and effects that he uses. Most pro musicians (artist) get their sound engineered to perfection...especially when they make it really big. The bass is not bad at all - I've tinkered with it.

He uses the 810 bass amp. I do not know what effects he uses. I do know he uses round wound strings.
