I have a question regarding the quality of the bass. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/bass/fen ... ndt_rdir=1

It seems with an Alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, and Seymour Duncan pickups that this bass is just as good as an American J bass. The only thing I can see that they might have cut corners is the quality metal of the bridge plate, tuners and knobs.

Has anyone played one of these basses, and is there anything that many not be up to the quality of an American version?

The 24V- 5 string bass was discontinued 2 years ago & I believe it was made in Korea.....it was a well recieved Bass...it's got Standard Hardware on it...nothing special but still adequate
...I can't confirm it but since it was made in Korea I wouldn't be surprized if the hardware was from Gotoh.
I was actually concidering getting one of these 5 string basses around the time they were discontinued & then I concidered getting the Victor Bailey 5 String & it was also Discontinued, So I settled for a 2011 American Deluxe Jazz 5... & I'm very happy with it :)

Only the 4-string version was available in Cherryburst.

I have had the bass for over a month now. I like the sound of the bass, and its look. What I don't like is the string spacing. My old G&L 2500 has string spacing that was closer together. When you want to play like Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, etc. the larger string spacing make it much more difficult to play. Thinking about selling it and buying a Carvin SB5000 next year. We will see.

5 String basses do have wider spacing, my 2011 American Deluxe Jazz 5 has wider spacing,...it took me a few months to get used to it....Has your bass been professionally set up? Sometimes it makes a difference.
Also Marcus Miller & Victor Wooten do the bulk of their slap playing on 4 string basses.... & Marcus Millers Signature 5 string bass has a unique neck in that even though it's a neck for a 5 string it feels like your playing a 4 string....... :)

True but many bass company's like G&L and Carvin have string spacing that is closer together for 5 strings which makes it easier to play, especially on the higher part of the neck.
