WOW Thanks for the info guys, .......I did some research & Maxima strings do still exist,
they're manufactured by a company called Optima & can be found online as Opima/Maxima strings. check 'em out. http://www.juststrings.com/opt-bg2399.html & they're pricey :)

Whew! $105.00 makes the T-I Power Bass stringset look very reasonable at $58 and the DR's downright cheap at $25.

Interesting is the poll showing the vast majority in favor of 'other' with only one vote each for T-I & DR.

$105.00 and he changed them DAILY! No wonder his estate was sold for taxes. John was the consummate rock star. Accidental? Probably more like years and years of hard partying.

Who else would die with the ultimate groupie in his bed?

Nice pic of= Frankenstein too.

That set is on sale at Just Strings for $21.55! I may just have to pop for these and give them a go.

I play in a cover band that plays primarily classic rock/pop with a few relatively modern songs. The strings I've been using most frequently have been the DR Sunbeam nickel plated .45- .105. Great strings, nice tone, and lower tension than some rounds because it has a roundcore as opposed to a hex-core.

If you're playing in any drop tunings you may want to consider hex-core rounds.

I've heard that Sunbeams work & sound great on Fretless basses.. :)
I'm concidering giving them a shot on my Jaco fretless.

I don't have a fretless, but they sound and feel great because of the lower tension.

I have the Elixirs that came with my Ibanez SR600. They really sing and still sound the same 8 months later. Whenever I go for a restring, flat wounds are something for me to consider again. T-I apparently makes some good flat wounds, but D'Addario strings are on my guitars. They sound good and the price is right. So, D'Addario Chromes will be the ones I play with next. I do have my eye on a cheap little single pick up Gretsch bass I want to own just to have something you have to make me work harder. Jack White has been a bad influence on me,

Hmmmm....Nice looking Gretch bass though... :) I'd pull the trigger & get one.
& hey there's nothing wrong with working harder.........I tend to use my Steve Harris
P- Bass often when warming up & doing scales & runs etc......this bass has a thick neck yet it still feels comfortable & sounds good...anyway when I switch back to one of my Jazz basses(as they have thinner necks) I notice the difference right away.... :)

D'Addario ETB92 Nylon Tapewounds, a round string with a flat string sound.

D'addario XL rounds. Medium gauge? Honestly don't know because it's been sooooo long since I've restrung. They may even be GHS Flea Boomers. I use them on my Bentley. Just a comfy, good sounding string.

Many players especially old school players who play classic rock prefer Swing Bass strings.
