Hey guys, it's been a while since I've gotten back to the forums again and well here's a topic that might interest you guys...

I know there are a lot of factors to talk about tone, (strings, pickups, amps, capacitor, EQ settings)

Who's Jazz Bass tone is your favorite?

to start off..

here's mine:
1 Flea - '61s Jazz tone strung with flatwounds,

2 Paul Turner - '66 Jazz with "dead" DR rounds

3 Meshell Ndegeocello - '63 Jazz with LaBella Quarter Wounds

I like Jaco's tone on Live In Italy..the one he did with Bireli. It could be the black fretless Jazz bass he used a few times that had a maple fingerboard. Some real information on the subject would be great.

Heard the "live" version on the "Rush In Rio" cd. He used his #1, sounded great.

For me it's a 3 way tie between.
Geddy Lee............'72 Jazz w/ Rotosound swing bass strings
Marcus Miller........'77 modified Jazz w/DR Marcus Miller signature Fat Beam Strings
Jaco Pastorius......'62 Jazz bass that Jaco took frets out & filled in with epoxy to create
a Fretless bass w/ Rotosound flat wound strings. :)
