with regards to the dings and scratches as long as it doesn't affect playability it's fine.. :P

the bottom part of the bridge of my jazz bass has full of dings and scratches, and the sides are a little faded out, plus i had my first ding hitting a post on the stage damaging the back of the neck..

still sounded fine though...

I'd agree... like the song.. "first cut is the deepest", haha almost all first (bad experiences) hurts, like first time you crashed a car, broke up with a girlfriend, or even the first time you ever dropped a cellphone ... etc..
