Hi folks,
Just like the subject says, I'm looking to change the machine heads on my 2011 American Standard Jazz V to something heavier. What machine heads would fit? I was looking at Schallers, but they were far too big.

Gotoh? Are yours slipping or something? Mine came standard with Fender Hipshot tuning machines. Did yours? Aren't they actually made by Gotoh?

Hmmmm...I have more questions than answers. D'OH!

On almost every USED guitar I have ever purchased with the exception of maybe one-- I have found that the tuners ALWAYS have loose screws and/ or barrel nuts. AND after I tighten them up I never have a problem with them at all. Even cheap guitars. (Well now if you buy super junk there may be a problem but) this tightening thing holds true for Fenders. I have never needed to replace a Fender tuner because it slips. That's a whole bunch of tuners. That's just my World I guess. Tightening tuners up is the first thing I check and do when I bring a guitar home. I HAVE found loose ones on new guitars but that's kind of rare for Fenders overall. Anyone else???

Fender American Standards are equipped with Hipshot lightweight tuners, if you want to switch to heavier vintage style tuners you'd have to drill new holes..
