I hope this is not a topic beaten to death, but I've done a search and couldn't find it.

Does anybody know of a list of notable Jazz Bass players in the rock, r&b, or blues worlds?

Apart from Geddy, I'm stumped.

John Paul Jones, John Lodge, Timothy B. Schmit to name a few. Before anyone gets all huffy on me, John Lodge has been playing Jazz basses for quite a while.

Don't feel bad, bass players are usually overlooked, i was watching VH1 Classic last night, The Who at Leeds was on. First song was Heaven and Hell, a song written by John Entwistle and sung by him. Most of the time the cameras were on Pete Townsend.

Your attraction to the low end is admirable. There aren't that many people out there who can understand what bass playing is all about. I shows your obvious intelligence and good upbringing.

Good stuff, guys. Keep them coming.

I saw ELP on TV recently. Lake was playing a Fender, but I can't remember whether it was a P or a J.

Oh, one of my favorites from Elton's orginal band, Dee Murray, a great player.

Just thought of Daryl Jones, bassist for the Stones. He plays a Lakland now, but I believe he used to play a Fender JB.

Love the melodic basslines of REM's Mike Mills. Much like Geddy Lee and ch willie, he started with a Ric and switched to Jazz. Smart men.

Chris Squire and Roger Glover brought the Ric 4003 to the mainstream, IMO.
