Hi,
I just bought a used Fender Std Jazz bass and am having some trouble figuring out its date and specs. I think it's a 2007, but it's in perfect condition, case too, so I wonder if it's newer? The serial number is Z7 + 6 digits. If it's 2007, or whatever year it is, is there a product spec list somewhere? I can find none on fender.com nor on the internet. The manual does not include the info I am looking for. I'd like to know more about the neck and the electronics. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound much like a jazz bass, so before I return it I'd like to explore why. Can you help me?
Thanks!

You can call Fender's Consumer Relations to see if they have the specs for your bass.

If it doesn't sound good, by all means return it if you have that option.

That is an 07 model year serial. If you can post photos that will help. What other Jazz are you comparing it to when you say it doesn't sound right?

Yes it has EC. If you remember that site, let us know. We can all put it in our signatures.

As far as the specs are concerned, they are same as today, except that one probably has an alder veneered body blank where today they do not spec the body wood. They don't change the Standards around much at all.
