It's a shame they don't give a Maple Board option on a lefty Am. Std. I was thinking about changing out the Tort. PG, to a white. But I like the darker look on this Tort. It has a little less gold specs in it.

Not a solid black???? I also like big black rectangles rather than dots on a white Jazz neck.

Three tone Sunburst with a rosewood fretboard is classic Fender Jazz from the word go.

My '76 Precision is natural finish alder body with a white neck. Black dots.

@linnin

I will try that and see what feels better for me.. (now to get myself a lefty bass), now the bad thing is, I won't be able to use my japanaese '66 RI jazz bass... which is making me think it over haha.. but anyways there was 1 time I jammed along at a bar with a band who had a lefty bassist, well that's the advantage of being able to play on both side hehe.. I would have done it better right handedly but well that was an achievment for me.. :twisted:

I just read your review,..good job!! makes me want to buy one !! :) actually when the current model American Standard Jazz bass came out in 2012 & boasted a pair of '60's Custom Shop pickups,... I was impressed....... the American Standard Jazz bass & P-bass are really a lot of bang of the buck!!

I could right the same review for my 2001 SB J. It looks like yours only backwards. I'm glad you like your new Jazz. Once it gets worn in after a few years it will probably sound even better.

Thank you for your kind comments, James. :)

Yes, I think owning a matched set of Jazz & Precision Basses would be the cat's pajamas. It is my well considered opinion that every electric bass player needs to own one of each no matter how many other basses you may have.

I agree. One of each matching would be perfect. I have a pair of naturals, but since one was stored and the other played, they look nothing alike. They aged differently.

I saw a pair of Candy Green Performers, guitar and bass, and that was pretty cool too. A friend of mine has blue floral strat and I am trying to talk him into popping the bigs for the matching Tele bass, but they would look different too, due to aging.

By the way, nice review.

Steve

The Amer. Standard JB appears to be an outstanding value. My hang up on 21 frets (minimum) on a bass will cost me hundreds of dollars more. However, should I get around to it, it will be the bass I want, and not the one I settled for.

My 1rst bass was a Hagstrom, with 21 frets. 2nd bass was a Hofner Club Bass with 22 frets. The high E and the open E go very well together on a properly intoned bass, IMO. The high F is nice in a raga-ish open D drone in D minor. I can do without the F, but not the E. And it is going to cost me if I ever decide to own a Fender bass. Very happy with my Ibanez w/ the Bartolini pups. A passive bass would be nice, and Fender would be my first choice.

Congrats on your outstanding bass, Linnin.
