Hello I am just wondering if it would pose no issue other than me drilling new holes on the MM neck.

Well give it a try, I have heard of other folks doing similar with Warwick necks and even Carvin necks......just what i have seen and heard of with no detriment to the Bass. 8)

As far as I know unless the Marcus bass is different than any other fender jazz neck--- you don't have to do anything but put the neck on the geddy body and screw it back on- they should always be the same hole pattern on Jazzes and P's--no difference.

the geddy has 4 holes like any std jazz. the MM has the 3 holes.
I'm not sure if I should drill on the MM neck or the GL body ...

?

Why would you switch those necks? Is it the color pattern?

good question. its a personal choice mainly
I have the sunburst geddy body ( I gave its neck to a friend)
I love the sound of the GL but I like the look and feel of the MM neck.
I like the MM active tone but I want the passive tone control.
and I love both artists why not combine them.

The MM body is up for sale at ebay btw.

it will fit but you'll have to drill starter holes in it- if you don't know or haven't done that before- you may want to check it out with someone first or have your repair guy do it.

Yeah Being modelled after his 1977 Jazz bass, The Marcus Miller Bass has the 3 bolt Micro tilt neck plate, ........hey why don't you just save yourself a lot of time & hassle & trade in your Sunburst Geddy lee Jazz Bass & your Marcus Miller Jazz bass & order a Marcus Miller 4 string Sunburst Jazz bass with the White pearl block markers...........problem solved :)

That was my choice but I gave my Geddy Lee neck to a friend who is building a frankenbass too.
So what I have right now is a MM neck and a GL body.
The MM body I will sell.
And lastly, I'm going back to the passive since I will be getting a Outboard preamp DI like the sadowsky or something.

Geddy's Custom Shop "Alchemical Amalgamation" Jazz looks pretty close to your frankenbass, with white binding and white pearloid blocks on a maple neck, but different headstock decals.

A recent Bassplayer article says that The Black Jazz bass with aged pearloid pickguard & Amalgamation symbol & neck with pearl block markers is actually Geddy's 1972 number one Bass with it's 3rd neck,
This neck was made for Geddy by The Customshop (just before the time machine tour) & it also has a little more mass than the typical style Geddy Lee neck.
Geddy's other idenitcle black Jazz bass with the tort pickguaurd is a 1974 jazz bass, & the Neck was made at the same time as the neck for Bass #1

check out the August 2012 issue of Bassplayer with Geddy on the cover......it's a good read. :)

interesting. looks like a MM neck minus the signature. Maybe GL's is thinner too.

The radius of the necks on the Geddy Lee Basses is 9.25" & the radius on his Customshop neck pictured above is 9". & it's a little chunkier.
The radius on the Marcus Miller neck is 7.25" & the nut with on both necks is 1.5"
the Marcus neck is a little thicker than the Geddy.

Remember the Neck pictured above was Customshop made for Geddy Lee with the Customshop stamp on the back of the head.
