That IS a little sarcasm! It's a shame really, their natural habitat is being taken over by elves.

Thanks for asking. She's in college going for her major in vocal performance. Her voice is really doing a higher level than a freshman. She took first place in some competitions, and did very well with scholarships. She wants to do summer classes if, and when possible also. Working hard at it.

Groovy ZoomBa!

Please tell her that an old Fender Bassman she doesn't know sends good vibes :D

Personally, I will only buy American made Fenders. The quality of Mexican made seems to be more inconsistent. They are use lesser quality parts on the Mexican models in order to keep costs down. They are great basses for the money but in my opinion are designed more for beginner and intermediate players.

Actually since around 2009 Fender Mexico has been pretty consistant with regard to quality control....I recentley bought a MIM Reggie Hamilton Jazz bass (this Bass comes with Fender stamped tuners & a Hipshot D tuner, an American standard P bass pick up & a Custom noiseless Jazz pick up..........no lesser parts used here...however I'm not sure abouts the pots ) I was also pleasantly surprized at the quality of this bass......this is my first Mexican Fender ( I have 3 MIJ Fender basses & 2 MIA Jazz basses) I'm also far from being a beginner or intermediate
player (I've been playing since 1978)
I also know many musicians who like MIM Fender guitars & basses mainly because they find an instrument that feels & plays good & most of them & retail for under $950.00

I've also played MIA basses that I thought were so so..... anyway I've always been of the mind set that if it plays good & looks good it's a keeper regardless of where it comes from...... :)

The now MIM Geddy Lee basses & later production MIJ Geddy basses have the nice added feature of having Fender stamped machine heads...... my 2006 CIJ Geddy bass doesn't have this feature........Good job Bernie!! how do you like the bass?....how does it feel & sound to you !..... :) The Geddy neck is very nice & I like the Vintage jazz pick ups.....nice growl to them... :)

Yep...getting used to it more and more, the neck was probably its strongest selling point, i love the narrowness of all the F jazz, i was impressed by the sharp sound and shape (for speed) of the maple. The square inlays are a cool feature.
The sound is right up the way i like it, as i prefer basses that give higher end cuz i like to play in trios (with only guitar & drums) wich backs up the guitar nicely.
Althought the tone is not as warm or heavy as a p bass, i feel this can be fixed with amps & effects where as the other way is harder if it doesn't come naturally from the clean instrument itself.
This is also the case with my Ricky 4001, though the Geddy Lee is lighter with that narrower neck is a nice difference. Felt weird changing from the jazz to the Ricky after a while but will probably get used to it.
I most likely will be changing the strings as i find these fenders to be to soft for me, i'm a hard hitter who prefers heavy gages......more to come...

May I suggest DR Hi Beam or Fat Beam stings or maybe a set of
Rotosound Roto Bass RB 50's or Roto bass RB45's ....Roto bass strings are essentially Swing bass strings with out the silk winding...... I use the RB 45's on my Geddy bass & RB 50's on my P-Bass........ I've also used Fat Beams ...I like them but where I live they're $32.00 plus tax = $35.84 for a set of strings as opposed to the Roto Bass strings costing $23.00(taxes included) ......that being said I just came across a website called http://www.juststrings.com ...... I might start buying strings from this site.... :)
