Nut slot deeper will probably help .

To be sure we have to see the neck with a close up to the nut

Picture will help

A 2012 Bass is on warranty I guess , go to see your dealer

I've got a 2008 MIM Jazz and had the same problem.

Solution:

Completely unwind the A string from the tuning post. Then re-wind it back but make sure the string is pushed down to the very bottom of the tuning post - use force!!

I've done this ever since I had the A-string-nut-problem and it's never returned.

Angle of the string on bass and gweetars is very important when talking about over and beyond nuts. This is a big problem with novice and beginners. We need to teach them well.Their fathers hell will slowly go by.

Your MIM Jazz has a nut cut for (.045, .065, .080, .100 Gauges). The .105 set is maybe a bit big for the A string slot in the nut. Like the other guys said, make sure the strings are down into the slots on the nut.

Whenever changing string gauges it is a good idea to get it done professionally for a multitude of reasons. By forcing a too large string into a too small nut slot you can crack the nut. Voice of experience here. Been there, done that, got the new nut. The synthetic nut plastic is some hard stuff. You can expand the nut slot yourself, but I wouldn't recommend it. You really need the right sized nut files. They are pretty expensive and there is a learning curve involved in their correct use. I would not file my own nut slot.

The problem here is not really in going to a larger gauge set but rather that going back to a smaller gauge set will often require a new nut slotted for the smaller gauge.

Willy Nilly gauge changes are not recommended at all. Find one set and stick to it.
