I really like my new bass.

I have been thinking about buying a better bass than the $50 Squier P bass I picked up from the local pawn shop. I haven't been able to get the neck relief set correctly on it and just can't bring myself to spend another $50 to take it in for a set up.

So, cruising the web the other night I saw this antigua jazz bass and it looked so cool that I just had to snap it up. I'm not much of a guitar player and I'm even less of a bass player; but I must say this is a very nice bass. I love the finish and I am really impressed by how many different tones I can dial in just using the controls on the guitar.

Now, I need to get an amp that has more "oomph" than my Rumble 15 because I can already tell that I'm gonna play this bass a lot.

Awesome, congrats!

I'm considering either that same bass, or the Precision Bass in the same finish, since I already have a Geddy Lee jazz. Plus, I like a thumbrest, and the P model has one stock, so no need to mod a collectible bass. Either way, it's a fine looking instrument... enjoy!

I just bought a neck from a new Antigua Jazz which a guy on Talkbass was parting out. The neck is great, feels allot like the neck on my '72 Jazz.

I ended up putting it on Fender Classic 70's Jazz body I had (with the 70's PU spacing). Used it on a gig this weekend, sounded great and a very comfy Antigua neck!

The features are not correct in my taste for a Jazz Bass from that era.

An Antigua Jazz Bass would sport a tuxedo neck, 3-bolt neckplate and Bullet truss rod.

I guess I'm a little shallow. I bought it primarily because I liked the color and secondly because I have been very happy with my other MIM guitars. Resemblance to a previous model was not important to me. I appreciate that others would like for this color to have period correct appointments (70's?), but I'm not hung up on that.

I like it. In fact, I have played it so much lately that I have a blister on the tip of my index finger.

I would like to respectfully point out that although it does not have block inlays or a 3 bolt neck, it does have the bullet truss rod. To each his/her own. :)

Congrats on your new bass. It's nice when you find one that just "fits", isn't it?
Enjoy and I hope you blister all your fingers from playing it!

Just got mine today and it plays and sounds terrific. I love the color which looks much better in person than most of the pics online.
