Thanks.
I bought the Hartke amp and cabinet last October after my old amp crapped out on me. The amp is way more than I need. Especially since we run everyhing through the PA, but I was thinking if we play a large venue or an outdoor gig I may need it.
I run direct out of the amp, post effects. That way the out front sound isn't totally in the hands of our sound man. He does do a pretty good job. There's only been a couple of times that I've changed any settings after the sound check and only after letting him know I'm doing so.
The 4 x 10's work great as my bass stage monitor. Clear, tight, punchy and you would be surprised at the bottom end I can get out of those hybred 10" speakers. Just the way I like it.
I do have an old Peavey 2 x 15 cabinet that I can add to the set up if need be. I hooked it all up once just to see. WOW! It sounded great.

I share your opinion as far as to the way you run your set-up. You just can't trust those sound men. While I'm sure your amp and effects are really great, I think your CS Jazz makes the difference. :D

The Jazz is definitly the foundation. It delivers a clean, powerful signal.
Also the Jazz is like an effects unit by itself. I can get real close to a good thumpin' P-bass sound to a dirty, growly J-bass sound, and everything in-between, without touching anything in my rack or any of my pedals.

These are mine:

Image

the natural is an '07 VM JBass.

Image

The 'fake' P used to be white, now it's Dark Walnut stain, the middle is the '89, the blue with cream binding is the '99 (body is custom, not Fender's). I still have the '99 body - Midnight Wine, in 1st pic above. I might put up that body on Ebay.
