Be patient, someone will respond. I've played one and thought it was a beautifl bass. Sound was pure Fender, definitely one to consider.

You might try posting the same thing in the Precision section of the forum. P-players may not even look in the J-section. I'm probably the exception. I don't own one, like Oxfan have played one.

They are unique in a way. They have the Fender Original Precision Pickup which relative to other P-pups is a very, very bright pup. In the 62 RI P it is tamed to a more traditional P tone by using a 0.1 tone cap. So far as I know it is the only passive Fender P to use a 0.1 cap. I use that pickup with a 0.05 cap and it is almost as bright as a single coil with slightly less punch that still sits up front in a mix. Highly recommended pickup for people who like the single coil tone but want no single coil hum. That describes me.

My problem with the 62 RI is that the pickguard, while nice looking, isn't exactly the same chunky confetti tortoise. Thank you EPA.

I don't have one, nor have I played one, but I just wanted to say Damn That's Nice!

I started out with '72 just like that, and loved it! Traded it in when I switched from righty to lefty in '76. Still have that Precision.

I'd buy the '62 Vintage P if it were me.

Wow interesting reading on this forum. Just picked up my 62 p-bass, see my post in p-bass forum. Now I have 62 j and p both 2012 reissues. These basses are both fantastic. Love the nitro finish, the build quality and both set up very nice from the factory. Also did I mention the tolex cases.COOL.....

well 62scott, you are now blessed with the best of both worlds. I've heard that the '62 reissue pick ups are the very best that Fender has ever made.

So what's in your future? Super Bassman? With matching 4X10 & 1X15 cabs?

How would all of that Fender goodness sound together?

WAIT! I'm having an Eargasm!

Oh! That Was Good! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
