you use gunstock oil on it like you do with Ernie ball guitars. I have some downstairs-- if no one tells you the name of it I'll post it later. The Ernie Ball sight has exact directions on how to use and apply the product. It's good stuff and it makes the neck really smooth and not sticky..

Myself, I never apply anything on a maple FRETBOARD or fingerboard. NOTHING. I just clean it with a soft cloth and use a toothpick to scrape out the grunge around the frets. A little water is ok, but no oils on a maple fretboard. I use old gym socks and buff.

Impurities in oils, such as a silicone component, can breakdown the lacquer causing it to flake off.

Here is a link to a very good page about fretboard care and this page debunks a lot of myths. No matter what kind of fretboard you have, this info is golden. I have this link posted on the do-it-yourself maintenance page of my website.

Birchwood Casey Gunstock Wax- at Gander Mountain and other gun stores.

I said oil but I meant wax. No oil allowed on my maple boards either just on the rosewood ones.

I never use anything but a flannel rag to wipe it down with.
