As i mentioned, went to Guitar Center tonight and playe a 2012 American Standard Jazz, sunburst with rosewood, through an Ampeg SVT-4 Pro Series head and a 4X10 cab.

Absolutely, positively awesome. The bass was soooooooooo nice, great fit and finish and beautiful fender tones. The Ampeg was great too.

Seems Fender has created the perfect line (American Standard) to satisfy the working pro and the serious enthusiast. Great job, you've restored my faith. My only regret was, they didn't have a 2012 American Precision to try out.

I thought you only liked Mexi basses. What have they done for this year as any improvements or whatever?

Pickups are different and have the Fender thump.

Seems that when I went out on a mission, the best available bass just happened to be MIM. My precision was new, but my Jazz was just hanging there in a little store, and I had to have it. My next bass WILL be an American Standard, at the moment, I'm torn between a Precision and a Jazz.

I tried the 2012 Jazz, and Precision side by side. They both sounded, and felt great. I just preferred the Jazz tone, and slightly thinner neck. Both were finished very well. Great Fenders. I like the 60's pups too.

This week.

It's probably a good thing that the closest GC is aprox 120 miles away. Otherwise I just might be the proud, but fryin' pan lumpy headed owner of a new 2012 American Standard Precision V.

Demo'ed an Amer Std jazz bass, too. But, got to play it through a Genz Benz GBE-1200 and a Mesa 410. Just barely tweaked the Master past one and it was loud but the bass definitely had plenty of growl to it.

OK, so what is the deal on these CS pickups? Single coil or Split coil? Alnico? Overwound or underwound?

How can they have both thump and growl? I'm confused already.

If "Nice Lady" read this she'd probably use that frying pan on your head. She's such a gentle and warm-hearted person, she'd never resort to violence. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I found the same thing to be true when I played it. Bridge pickup growled, neck pickup thumped, just like my mystery Jazz. I really have to yank the pickguard and see what kind of pickups are on it.

The way things have been going lately, she'll be hard put to find a lumpless spot on my head!!!!

I guess I'm a little crazy gassing for an Amercian Standard Precision V when you consider my current bass. But wouldn't that be a nice combination to own??? An active Jazz V and a passive P-bass V.

Ok. If you say so. :D

Guess I might ought to pick up an extra bottle of Tylenol while I'm out. :(
