Hi Everybody!
I am a quite happy owner of a RW Jazz Bass (and my first Jazz bass) I noticed something about the fingerboard that I am wondering, just for the sake of knowledge, if is "normal" or not.
The thickness of the rosewood is thicker on the ends (lengthwise) than in the middle of the neck.
it's approximately 3/16 at the nut, 1/8 at the last fret and about 3/32 at the the 7th fret. Is this a common occurrence on Fender Jazz Basses or proper or improper building specs. It plays and sounds good to my ears but would just like to know for reference.

Thanks for reading my first post.
Peas. Chuck

are your Jazz fingerboards more or less even in thickness the length of the neck?

This is normal. Fender discontinued slab finger boards (same depth dimensions across the rosewood) in 1962 I think it was. Now they are more or less rosewood veneer instead of rosewood slab construction.
