I've got a Jazz Plus v that I've played for 20 years--Great guitar--always had a great sound. Recently, It has lost it's punch, as though the bridge lace sensor died. Slap has turned to crap! :( Anyway, I always thought the stacked knobs were volume/tone for each pickup-I'd just crank 'em up and ROCK- now, there's nothing but ....well...BASS! It makes the drums resonate BIG time. Anybody else have this problem? I'll probably end up replacing the pickup if it checks out bad. BTW, the strings are fairly new, so unless I got a bad set, I doubt it's that. Does anybody know of any articles or info on the middle knobs actually do, cuz I guess I was wrong about the volume/tone thing for each pickup. Any info will be greatly appreciated!

I've heard of some of these having 18volt electronics, with a six-way switch as the third knob

Jazz Pluses always sported a 9V power supply.

The basses you're talking about were highly customized as it's merely the case for this beautiful 5-string sunburst Jazz Bass Plus V with its aftermarket EMG soapbars and active 3-band EQ.

I've been playing this bass thru a Peavey 200 watt combo amp (2x10" speakers +horn) for YEARS. It always sounded great. It just recently lost it's sizzle, so I brought it home from where we practice, plugged it in to my small practice amp, and, VOILA! It sounds sweet and bright like it should. I'm wondering if the HF horn knob on the amp got inadvertantly turned down or something else. I'm sure glad the guitar is OK. It used to belong to the bassist for the Freddy Jones Band, and, until I did some research on the Jazz Plus, I thought it was just a lesser model Jazz. It's a sweet playing bass, and it'll probably be in my arsenal for a long time! Does anybody know how many of these they made? BTW, Chef , thanks for the info on what the knobs do. What a weird configuration!
