Looking to purchase a 1993 "longhorn" jazz body, if anyone has one for sale or knows of any out there please let me know, thanks!

BTW - I do check eBay regularly and none have shown up lately :(

Let me re-phrase this question a bit (don't want to offend anyone with something off topic)...

Does Fender sell a replacement body for a 1993 American Standard Jazz bass? If not, is this something that the custom shop can build?

The reason I ask, is that I purchased the "longhorn" for the long scale 22-fret neck and liked the long scale neck but the extended cutaway body took a bit to get used too...the original body and neck got separated many years ago when I replaced the body with a standard looking J-bass body. Now, I want to return the bass back to it's original condition and hence my search.

Thanks in advance.

Fender doesn't sell replacement bodies and necks any more. They sold replacement stuff for their vintage reissue models in the past. The Custom Shop makes entire instruments and not separate parts.

You can find a used longhorn body in a mint condition on eBay, though.

The Fender "longhorn" I'm interested in is the 1993 American Standard which had an extended top horn for better balance (no neck dive), and had an extended 22 fret neck. I still have the original neck, pickups, electronics, tuners, bridge, etc. I just don't have the original body any longer.

From what I see you want reverting your bass in its original form.

Certainly a 22-fret neck doesn't fit properly into a standard Jazz Bass body unless you perform some major alterations (pickup and bridge placement, bridge intonation).

My personal suggestion is to leave the 22-fret neck in the standard Jazz body until you find a replacement.

Alternatively you can pick a used pre-2010 American Deluxe Jazz body and a matching 9-hole pickguard without the truss-rod notch from eBay and eventually fill the side jack hole with a chunk of wood.

Great suggestions. I agree with you regrading keeping it the way it is until I find a replacement and yes I made some major mods to get the neck to fit onto the current body.

If all else fails, I didn't realize a pre-2010 deluxe body would work, that's an option along with filling in the hole as you mentioned, thanks.

Your bass in its present state would look like this?

You also need to fill the battery compartment cavity.

In your place I would leave the 22-fret frankenbass unchanged rather than spending all your time with unnecessary searches for an old product which was discontinued for a while.

Thanks to everyone that has replied with all of the great suggestions and pics.

Due to this forum, someone that had a longhorn body offered it to me for sale and I made the purchase. It's in very good shape and FINALLY my 1993 Fender American Jazz Standard will be returning to it's stock condition.

Much appreciated! John R, you rock. It's now altogether and going in for a re-fin... will postpics once its done.
