Well, not neccessarily brand new. I got a used Geddy Lee from Ebay and am very happy with it. I have been playing for two years, and this is a really major upgrade for me. Got to say I am really happy.

It's a good investment, then neck itself is great.

Nice! I still say the Geddy is probably one of the best bang for the buck basses on the market, regardless of the artist links.

In fact, I know at least one person who places a bit of tape over the signature on the back of the headstock, as they can't stand Geddy, but couldn't deny how good the bass was and had to have it.

As compared to a 72 they are okay but not the real deal. I took the BA bridge off one of the two I owned. It is a great neck but I'd trade one all day long for my RW P bass. I have a 72 Jazz and there's no comparison in the sound between it and a Jedi. That's not to say your Jedi Lee bass sucks or that you suck or anything like that. I'm sure it's the killerest bass you've had. Rawk On !!!

I have a Geddy Lee Bass (bought it new in 2006) & yes it's definately a lot of bang for your buck ..the overall construction & especially the neck are top notch, they all come stock with vintage jazz bass pickups & a Badass II bridge all for $999.00 -$1099.00 new in most music stores...I heard it's also Fenders top selling bass....I can see why. :)

Fender did USA Geddies for the artist himself; a cherry red with a flame maple & without pickguard and two black with pearloid and brown shell guards featuring an "alchemical amalgamation" sticker, the former being tuned in Eb-Ab-Db-Gb and the latter having white binding and matching pearloid fretboard inlays. These basses are not actually available to the general public yet.

Congratulations on the new bass, I have a Geddy Lee Jazz as well and like it. The only thing you may want to save up for is to replace the tuners because some of the models (like mine) slip and come out of tune quite easily. That said mine was purchased new in '04 so I'm not sure if they fixed that since then.

The CS needs Geddy's own authorization to release those basses for everyone.
