I think I would have copper shielded it first and re-evaluated before replacing the pickups. Those are some first rate single coil pickups in those. To me any noiseless variety just doesn't sound exactly Jazzish. Even the Fralins. I have tried them before.

They're good pickups, ...really full sounding, ....Luckily I'm not getting any buzz issues, I find the Select pickups have more low end on them than the Fender stock Jazz single coil pickups that are in my other jazz basses (most of my basses have Vintage single coil pickups, My 2011 American Deluxe Jazz has N3 noiseless pickups & my Reggie Hamilton Jazz bass has a Custom Noiseless bridge pickup)
I had to roll back the neck pickup half way to eliminate the boomy low end.......
it's nice to know there's more low end should I need it,........ In my opinion, & I agree with Dave These are first rate pickups, ........I wonder how long it will be until Fender releases them as replacement pickups for other Jazz Basses or will they keep them solely on the Select Bass to keep it special... Hmmmm.

Bro Dave,
After I shielded it I decided I prefered the sound of the original pups. It's back to stock now, and I sold the Fralins.

I actually put my stock ones back in- prefered them over the Fralins. If Fender ever sells them, I'll certainly buy them for at least one of my other Jazz basses. They have higher output, and are definitely beefier in the lows. I currently have SD Antiquity II pups in both of my other Jazz basses. I always have to set the gain higher on the Ant IIs to get a similar tone. I really do wish Fender would offer them as an after market pickup.

Thanks man.

Finally took it to a gig this weekend. After having had it almost a year.

I don't think anyone took a video at this one, but the guitarist from the other band that played complimented my bass tone. The word great was thrown around. 8)

She is our beloved co-lead singer Kelly. Cool chick...super hyper.

Thanks James. Yes, definitely a "great" jazz bass. I'm lucky to have it.

Looks like a little "Select" arm candy too. Checked out the Declassified website. Nice group.

Thanks for the compliments. Yes, Kelly is a cute girl, with a great personality to go with it. It's a good group of band mates...best I've ever been involved with. I was with them from the beginning in 2009 and then left to play in an original punk band from 2010-2012, but rejoined in July 2012.
