I'm noticing that the Artist models have really thinned out on the website (no Steve Bailey, Stu Hamm, others probably). So instead of Fender throwing something weird at us (i.e., Dunaway Jazz Bass), how about we tell them what we'd be willing to buy and why. So Fender fans, start suggesting your fave artist bass you'd like to see. Myself, I'd like to see an updated version of the Bass of Doom. If you've seen current pictures of it, you know the Fender Artist model is not quite right. Or how about a Dee Murray Jazz in Sonic Blue (seems like I saw one with a matching headstock).

Well this would be another guy no one has heard of so why not make an artist model - it's not Duss Mckengan or anything but it's a "Rodney Underwood" 68 Walnut P bass sunburst with the rounded tuner ears. Rod was the bass player in Black Cloud- my first band. He quit playing bass around 1971 or 2. That's what would make his artist bass so cool.

Is it Duce Mckenson? Doug Mckeenin? Desi Mckhanous? WHAT IS THAT GUYS NAME???

I think my favorite "artist" bass is the " Frudnz Gnudmunson" Fender Bullet bass in antique white. Frudnz played for the "Earthdodgers" during the cold war days in Helsinki Poland. His claim to fame came after that in the band "Girl Shoes" when he aquiered the Bullet bass from the Polish government sale in Garkersnumph Poland in 1986. There's nothing quite like his treatment to "Sunshine of Your Love" on "Girl Shoes" 2nd album "Return The Rich". Frudnz retired a few years ago and is now a carpet layer in Cleveland. He frequents the R+R Hall of Fame on Tuesday when they are closed.

Can you tell the forums are pretty dead these days?

Forums are dead! Why do all the great ones retire? I hope they do a comeback tour.

Entwistle Signature Precision Bass.

Period, end of story, nothing to follow.

(and no......I don't care that this is the Jazz Bass section).

I'd like to see a replica of the "restored" Jaco bass of doom.

I like the look of it better than with the beat-up sunburst paint it sported prior to demolition.

I agree with you on this. Maybe have a limited edition with proceeds going to NAMI or a similar organization that deals with mental health.

Great idea. For a good cause, and good PR as well.

It's amazing to me that the music business is taking initiative with substance abuse that afflicts many musicians but not mental illness which also does. If Fender can do limited edition Eric Clapton Strats with money going to the Crossroads Center why not do a Jaco Jazz Bass with proceeds that benefit mental health organizations. The music industry has already owned up to the drug problem yet won't aknowledge the mentally ill.

Rev J
